Watch Us Play Mario Tennis Aces: Adventure Mode

Earlier this week, I had the chance to give Mario Tennis Aces brand new Adventure Mode a whirl. This is the first Mario Tennis game to include a story mode since the Game Boy Advance game and it’s pretty damn good. All four levels that I got to play (which are in the videos) all varied greatly, and as you can see in the last two videos, quite quite difficult.

There’s a lot more depth that you’ll see in the below videos, including a fleshed out story featuring Wario and Waluigi and you can even level up Mario as you progress through the story.

BASK RUINS – A BONE TO PICK:

This was the first level in Adventure mode that I got to try. It was a basic tennis match against Dry Bones and very much about learning the basics of Mario Tennis Aces.

TEMPLATE OF BASK – AN ANCIENT TRIAL:

Whilst I can only show you half of this mission, the first half revolves around using the many shots of Mario Tennis to beat down a wall. Once I progressed through the wall, I was treated to a bit of backstory around the mode before I got introduced to the energy gauge as well as some of the more complex shots such as zone shots, blocking as well as zone speed.

PIRANHA PLANT FOREST: PIPE GRIPE –

This was my first match against Donkey Kong on an interactive court. The Petey Piranha’s would constantly eat the balls and spit them back out at fast paces, requiring you to use Zone Speed in order to reach it.

PIRANHA PLANT HABITAT: RAPID FIRE –

Definitely the hardest mission that I got to play. You’ve got a minute and a half to kill 30 Petey Piranha’s with the catch that if one of the fast ball hits you, you instantly knock off 10 seconds each time. Your racket can also be broken with these power shots completely ending the level.
