This Weekend: SMITE And Paladins Championships Live In Sydney

This weekend at ESL’s Studios in Sydney a number of competitors will be duking it out in the Hi-Rez Oceania Championship in two esports titles — the ancient God-themed MOBA, SMITE and Hi-Rez’s newest team-based FPS offering, Paladins. The two victorious teams will qualify for SMITE World Championships and Paladins Invitational respectively, which both will be held at Hi-Rez Expo (HRX) in Atlanta, Georgia in early January 2017.

Avant Garde, Alpha Sydney, Pandamonium and Legacy Esports are the four teams contending for the SMITE Oceania Championship crown. The winner of which will take home the lion’s share of the $60,000 prize pool as well as earn the right to represent the Oceanic region at the World Championships 2017, where they will compete against the best SMITE squads from around the globe for a chance at the $1-million (USD) prize pool.

Paladins will also be featured at the Sydney event in a singular matchup between finalists, Abyss Esports and Avant Garde. The victor of which will also attend HRX by earning a slot in the inaugural Paladins Invitational where they will fight a stake of $150,000 (USD) prize pool.

This weekend’s matches will be broadcasting live from 10 AM on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November through Hi-Rez’s Official Twitch channel. Tickets for the event at Sydney’s ESL Studios are available via Eventbrite and shuttle buses will be available for attendees. Ticket holders will also receive a goodie bag which includes a SMITE comic and exclusive in-game content.
