Here’s How To Solve Those Number Puzzles In Hogwarts Legacy

Hopefully you paid attention in algebra.

While you’re bound to find most of the secrets of Hogwarts Legacy by yourself, there’s one particular puzzle type that almost always threw me. Granted, I didn’t explore as much as I thought I did, so I had no idea how to solve it. But let me clarify things for you early on – you can’t solve them without finding a note. That being said, if you can’t be bothered finding the note, here it is in all it’s glory for you to refer to.

HOW TO SOLVE THE ARITHMANCY NUMBER PUZZLES IN HOGWARTS LEGACY

Somewhere near the top of Hogwarts, you’ll be able to find a note that’ll have each of the animals on it as well as what numerical values they correspond to. You’ll then need to find these ornaments that you can interact with to “roll” them into different animals. If there’s two involved in the door you’re trying to unlock, there’ll be two nearby, with their roman numeral on them to know which one you’re adjusting.

What you then need to do is refer to your cipher, found upstairs in the Arithmancy classroom, to work out what animals mean what and what number you’re working towards (in the center of each puzzle). It’s from there that you’ll have to do some basic maths to solve the puzzle and open the door, which usually contains a collectible, some gear or both.

So in our example above, the number we are trying to reach for the top puzzle is 21. We already know 11. Looking at the chart, we know the figure in the diagram is corresponding to 2. Which gets us to 13. The remaining number we need to get to 21 is 8, which we can see is the spider on our chart. So, by inputting that number in the ornament on the wall that we interact with, we solve the top half of the puzzle.

Rinse and repeat for the bottom.

It’s bizarrely simple once you find this one single file in the game, just be prepared to do some mental maths. But nothing too arduous, of course.

Hogwarts Legacy launches on February 10th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The cheapest price is currently $79 with free shipping.
