Hot off the heels of a premature leak from the Xbox Store, Netherrealm and Warner Bros. have released a very short teaser for the Kombat Pack, which will presumably act similarly to a season pass.
The Kombat Pack includes four downloadable content packs which add new content to the game, including playable characters and skins. Presumably, much like previous Mortal Kombat games, a free compatibility pack will be offered that will also include the skins although nothing to this effect has been confirmed just yet.
The content of the packs is as follows: –
The Ultimate Horror Pack
Playable character Jason Voorhees
Horror skins Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile and Pharaoh Ermac
The Klassic Pack #1
Playable character Tanya
Klassic skins for Kano, Sonya and Liu Kang
The Predator / Prey Pack
Playable character Predator
Predator-themed skins Commando Johnny, Infrared Scorpion and Carl Weathers as Jax
The Klassic Pack #2
Playable character, Tremor
Klassic skins for Quan Chi, Jax and Kung Lao
Joining the recently announced Jason Voorhees earlier in the week, it appears that yet another 90s icon will be appearing in Mortal Kombat X – the Predator himself. The Kombat Pack will set you back US$39.99
Fans of the franchise will recognise Tanya and Tremor from earlier games. Tanya was one of the most traitorous characters in the franchise who was first introduced in Mortal Kombat 4 all the way back in 1997. She appeared again in both Deception and Armageddon but has not been playable since. Tremor, on the other hand, first appeared in the ill-fated spin-off Special Forces, and has not been properly playable in the franchise until now.
It’s possible that there will be more downloadable characters added to the game, given Netherrealms penchant for adding characters beyond the season pass with Injustice, but who do you want to see in Mortal Kombat X?
Mortal Kombat X is releasing April 15th on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions are due sometime this Winter.
