PewDiePie AKA Felix Kjellberg has caused controversy once again by saying a racial slur whilst playing Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on a YouTube stream. You can watch the video HERE but be warned that there’s some very offensive language throughout the stream.
Earlier this year, PewDiePie was dropped from Disney and Google for creating anti-semitic content.
Sean Vanaman who co-founded Campos Santos (best known for Firewatch) has placed a DMCA takedown on PewDiePie’s Firewatch content so that he will no longer be able to earn money from videos containing the game. He will also be unable to stream the game going forward.
You can find that series of tweets below, and judging by the reaction from the rest of the industry, this definitely won’t be an isolated incident.
We're filing a DMCA takedown of PewDiePie's Firewatch content and any future Campo Santo games.

There is a bit of leeway you have to have with the internet when u wake up every day and make video games. There's also a breaking point.

I'd urge other developers & will be reaching out to folks much larger than us to cut him off from the content that has made him a milionaire

Furthermore, we're complicit: I'm sure we've made money off of the 5.7M views that video has and that's something for us to think about.

PewDiePie is probably the biggest name in gaming over the 5 years. He is highly entertaining and part of his persona is definitely to push the boundaries but comments like these go way too far.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this article mentioned that the livestream took place on Twitch. The livestream actually took place on YouTube.
