Koch Media Is Entering The Australian Market After Acquiring 18point2

Koch Media has today announced that it will enter the Australia and New Zealand markets after acquiring local distribution company, 18point2. This means that Koch Media and its publishing label, Deep Silver as well as selected companies of the group’s partner line-up in both territories will be represented by a local team, effective immediately, under the name ‘Koch Media’ (most likely the existing 18point2 team).

It’s definitely an interesting one as Koch Media is owned by the newly formed THQ Nordiq. Locally, 18point2 manages WarnerBros and a number of other game development companies locally in Australia.

Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO at Koch Media states: “We have been evaluating the Australian and New Zealand markets for some time and have worked with different partners. From a strategic point of view we believe, now is the time to extend our corporate activities to these strong and growing markets directly. With the acquisition we not only gain priceless market experience in local publishing but also a well-established retail market. We are delighted to be able to work with such a strong team in sales, marketing, communications and distribution not only for our owned IPs, but also to offer this opportunity to our partners around the globe.

Roger Clarke, Managing Director of 18point2 adds: “I am delighted that 18point2 is joining Koch Media, as well as the broader THQ Nordic family. We share a singular focus on delivering the absolute best for our partners, as well as a shared commitment to our people. I am looking forward to building on the amazing work of the 18point2 team up until now, as we explore the exciting opportunities that lay ahead“.
