E3 2023

E3 2022’s Physical Event Has Been Cancelled And Will Likely Be Online-Only Again

While it was originally poised to be a return to its regular format, the ESA has announced that the in-person iteration of E3 2022 has been cancelled, as reported by IGN and other outlets. A statement sent to publications from the ESA reads:

“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022. We remain incredibly excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”

The globally-recognised and watched gaming event has been online-only for the past couple of years thanks to the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s expected that it will return to this format again (if the show does go ahead again at all this year).

IGN reports that the ESA could not confirm whether a digital event will go ahead in place of the cancelled physical one.
