It Looks Like Streets Of Rage Is The Next Big SEGA Film Adaptation

Deadline has reported that SEGA and Paramount are once again bringing a classic video game franchise to the big screen following the runaway success of the two Sonic the Hedgehog films, this time in the form of retro beat-em-up Streets of Rage.

According to Deadline’s sources, the movie is being penned by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, and is in production at dj2 Entertainment who were behind Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel and are also working on the movie adaptation of It Takes Two.

The Streets of Rage franchise began on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991, featuring a team of police officers in combat with a crime syndicate in a side-scrolling beat-em-up with two player cooperative play.
