Quantic Dream has revealed Under the Waves at this morning’s Opening Night Live presentation. Often the studio’s bread and butter, the game is a narrative-driven adventure, though they’re only attached to publish the title.
The game is in development at Parallel Studio and is set to explore the “engulfing power of grief” beneath the surface of the North Sea during a techno-futuristic version of the 1970s.
Under the Waves has been described as a “love letter to the oceans” and is standing in solidarity with Surfrider Foundation in the spirit of ocean preservation.
This is a ‘games for change’ candidate if I’ve ever seen one.
Under the Waves is expected to launch sometime next year for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
