Disney’s D23 conference is happening this morning and whilst there were lots of games featured in its premiere showcase this morning, one movie in particular caught our eye from the main showcase and that is Mufasa: The Lion King.
The movie will be a live-action (CGI) prequel to the original The Lion King story that tells the story of how Mufasa went from an orphan cub to a king. It will be narrated by Rafiki, Timon and Pumba.
The movie will be directed by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) and will release in theatres in 2024. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogan will reprise their roles as Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King (2019).

Whilst the trailer shown at D23 hasn’t made its way online yet, it showed Pride Rock with a voiceover from Rafiki. It showed baby Mufasa caught in a flood, before showing another cub, which is being speculated to be Scar.
