Update: The MIX Games and Wallride Games have revealed that Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is now scheduled to launch in March, and will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC via Steam. A demo is reportedly also on the way on Steam, so head here to wishlist/keep an eye out for that.
Original Story: The MIX Games and Wallride Games have announced Rugrats Adventures in Gameland, a brand-new licensed titled based on the iconic Nickelodeon franchise that’s being developed for PC, modern consoles and… the NES.
Yep, much like Wallride’s previous Jay & Silent Bob: Mall Brawl, this game has been developed specifically for Nintendo’s original home console, cartridge and all, so you can genuinely play it on original NES hardware. Of course, a version of the game will also release for PC and modern consoles so those not still rocking a NES at home can play it. For the modern release, players will even be able to select an “HD” version of the game instead of the NES port.
Adventures in Gameland is being developed as part of a partnership with Paramount which is lending its various IP to multiple “neo-retro games with classic mechanics built for today’s gamers,” and it’ll be a classic puzzle platformer-style starring the beloved characters and even featuring 2-player co-op.
Naturally, Limited Run Games is involved and although we don’t have a date for pre-orders it’s due to launch in 2024.
