Calling all CATANners! Fortress has announced that it’ll be home to the Victoria and NSW 2023 CATAN State Championships, something I’ll admit I didn’t know was a thing until now.
The iconic Melbourne and (new) Sydney venues will both bee hosting the state-based rounds of the CATAN Australian Championship in Victoria and NSW, inviting anybody who feels they have a shot to enter and potentially be sent off to the national round in Canberra in August.
Sydney’s up first with the event running on June 3rd, followed by Melbourne on June 17th, and anyone interested can register for Sydney here or Melbourne here. Entry fees for players are $25, and spectators are free but will still need to register a ticket.
Tournament
The tournament consists of two stages: Preliminary and Finals. The preliminary round will consist of three games of Settlers of Catan (base version with no expansions.) The top 16 scoring players from the Preliminary stage will progress to the Finals! Spot prizes will be awarded to players throughout the day, and the finalists will compete for a combined prize pool of over $500! Ruleset can be found HERE

The State Championship Winner will win a guaranteed seat at the 2023 CATAN Australia National Championship Tournament, to be held on 19 August, 2023 at Eastlake Football Club in Canberra, ACT.
The 2023 CATAN Australia National Champion will be sent to the 2024 CATAN World Championship, location and dates TBD.
