Heaps Of Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade Gameplay Has Appeared And It’s Looking Great

Out of the shadows.

Note: Some slight spoilers for a character reveal will follow below.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, a new free-to-play open world series entry that’s aiming to replicate the larger-scale experience of the more recent mainline titles in a mobile format, is currently in closed beta testing and with no NDA for those lucky enough to participate it means everyone finally gets a lengthy, raw look at proper gameplay.

Unlike the 20-odd minutes of leaked footage we saw a while ago, hours more gameplay is being streamed and shown off on YouTube from multiple players, showing off extensive looks at the game set during on of the first unified dynasties of China in the third century BC.

Interestingly, some of the footage also reveals that players will get to interact with Kassandra, the main playable protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and seemingly on a trip to Greece via the Ionian Isles. The parkour, stealth elements and combat on display are all a pretty close match for the recent trilogy of Assassin’s Creed action RPG-esque games, and surprisingly true to their scale and quite visually impressive for a mobile title in beta.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade will be set in Ancient China (215 BCE) and feature all of the iconic Assassin’s Creed gameplay mechanics including combat, assassinations and eagle vision. You’ll also be able to parkour across iconic Chinese locations such as the Great Wall of China and, for the first time in an Assassin’s Creed game, you’ll also get to create your own character.
