Alan Wake 2’s Herald Of Darkness Has Been Released As An Official Music Video

Show me the Champion of Light!

If you’ve played Alan Wake 2 – and hopefully by now you have because it’s bloody excellent – you’ll no doubt be very familiar with one of the game’s most iconic, and very music musical, moments featuring the recurring in-universe heavy metal band, Old Gods of Asgard.

If not, click away now or be spoiled!

Part of the way into the game, as players take control of Alan and traverse the Dark Place, he finds himself smack bang in the middle of a musical number featured on the uncanny talk show, In Between with Mr Door, where the Old Gods of Asgard themselves (a staple of the Remedy Connected Universe and real-life band, Poets of the Fall) play a heavy metal exposition piece titled Herald of Darkness.

Feel more with PS5. Beyond the everyday. Beyond extraordinary. Even beyond imagination. Feel it now.

It’s arguably one of the coolest moments in the game, and still best experienced that way, but for those who just want to rock out to the full version of Herald of Darkness without interruption and watch the likes of Ilkka Villi/Matthew Porretta, Sam Lake and David Harewood having the time of their lives, Remedy has dropped the whole music video over on the band’s official YouTube page as well as on streaming services like Spotify.

We gave Alan Wake 2 a huge 9.5/10 in our review, saying, “While I’m sure there were countless drafts and edits throughout the journey to this point, this Alan Wake II is proof that great things come to those who wait. Like breaking through after a thirteen year stretch of writer’s block, I can only imagine the sense of relief in letting this monster of a game loose.”
