The Original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy Is Out Right Now On PlayStation And Xbox

Get in The Zone.

Update: After its existence was outed ahead of time yesterday thanks to some retailers, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy has officially been announced, and better yet it’s out right now on PS4 and Xbox One.

The games can be purchased individually or as part of the trilogy bundle. Interestingly, although the announcement was made at today’s Xbox Partner Preview showcase, the bundle is significantly cheaper on PlayStation at $30 AUD over the Xbox version which is nearly double the price at $58.50. Edit: It looks like the bundle price has been fixed on the PlayStation Store and is now $59.95, which is still a good deal over buying the three individual games for $29.95 each.

As they are now, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game have been rebuilt and redesigned for consoles with refined controls and visuals, and an update for current-gen consoles is also reportedly on the way.

With a hugely-anticipated sequel on the way in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, it looks like the original game and its two follow-up titles are headed to consoles for the first time in a new trilogy pack.

Though it hasn’t been officially revealed yet, pre-order listings for a PS4 version of the game have popped up at multiple Japanese retailers with a release date of June 27th as well as official art, screenshots and info (thanks Gematsu).

We still don’t have a firm release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 as yet, but with an Xbox Partner Preview showcase happening tomorrow and that game’s alignment with Xbox and PC platforms, it’s probably a fair guess to say we might hear about the new game and the trilogy port tomorrow.

The listings read (via Google’s machine translation):

“The first console port of the survival horror FPS “STALKER” series, which has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, is finally here!

“Set in an open world around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant ruins recreated based on on-site interviews, the “A-Life” system that allows NPCs to act independently, food, medical supplies, weapons, etc. The legendary trilogy of the “STALKER” series, which is still supported by many fans due to the implementation of pioneering FPS elements such as resource management such as ammunition, is now in one piece!

“Several years after another large explosion of unknown cause occurs at the site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the contaminated area is inhabited by mutated creatures. It became an unknown area called the “Zone”. What awaits you at the end of your quest for survival?

“In order to survive this dangerous land as a true stalker, constant exploration is essential. Valuable trophies, advanced equipment, necessary supplies, discovering new allies, unknown shortcuts, and solving the mysteries hidden in this land will dramatically increase your chances of survival. In the heart of a heavily guarded zone, you have the chance to forge your own destiny. Embark on a journey of encounters with the unknown, unexpected discoveries, and self-discovery on this ultimate exploratory journey.”

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is currently pegged for a release on PC and Xbox Series X|S exclusively, and will be available through Xbox Game Pass from launch. It’s believed that the Xbox console exclusivity period is set to be a minimum of three months.
