Metal: Hellsinger VR Is Bringing The Excellent Rhythm Shooter To PS VR2, Meta Quest And SteamVR

Hell yeah.

If you’re yet to experience 2022’s Metal: Hellsinger, a demon-mashing FPS that’s also a rocking rhythm game, you’re really missing out. It’s been one of my favourite experiences in recent years, and it’s about to get even better with developer The Outsiders announcing that it’s working alongside Lab42 to bring the game to VR platforms this year.

Metal: Hellsinger VR is being built from the ground-up for VR, and is headed to multiple platforms including PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2 & 3 and PC VR via Steam.

The game will offer all of the same pulse-pounding gameplay of the “flat” version, redesigned to allow players to slay demons to the beat using full VR features and controls, or opt for a standard controller as well as play sitting down if preferred. It’ll also feature the same iconic original score that includes artists like Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), and more.

“Metal: Hellsinger in VR is a match made in heaven, or should I say hell,” said Funcom’s CFO, Erling Ellingsen in an accompanying press release. “Even when we were working on the original, we fantasised about how thrilling it would be to play in VR and many fans have been saying the same. Now that fantasy is coming true and there is no doubt: slaying demons to the rhythm of epic metal tracks, all in full-motion immersive VR, is just as incredible as we imagined it.”
