It’s Dino Crisis’ 25th Anniversary And Capcom Posted Dino Feet

The dino-dogs are barkin'

Capcom’s had another busy day today, premiering a new showcase this morning which revealed some exciting looks at the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, dropped a demo for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, spoke a bit more about Resident Evil 7’s iOS port and even mentioned the next Resident Evil game.

What it didn’t do, much to fans’ dismay with each and every new showcase, is talk about Dino Crisis. This is in spite of the fact that the original game is celebrating its 25th anniversary right now, and in spite of the company’s recent “Capcom Super Election” survey showing that Dino Crisis is the #1 series that fans want to see return by a significant margin.

And that’s why an entirely separate post on Capcom Japan’s social media has sent Dino Crisis fans into, well, Crisis Mode. The X account for Capcom’s Japanese operations posted an image of a bloodied dinosaur foot, instantly recognisable as being from Dino Crisis’s European cover art – in fact, it’s the same graphic that the company used in the Super Election results:

Realistically though, it doesn’t seem as if Capcom has a ton of interest in reviving the Dino Crisis series, as much as diehard fans would froth a Resident Evil 2-level remake of the first game (it’s me, I’m fans). Never say never, of course, but the company’s got some pretty big games looming – Monster Hunter Wilds, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and the just-confirmed next Resident Evil game, for example – so there’s a bit to get through first.

If anything, the use of the OG cover art might even suggest that a modern port of the original PC version is on the way, much like the classic Resident Evil trilogy’s PC versions are being redone by GOG right now. It would be a nice (dinosaur) bone for Capcom to throw hungry fans.
