Here’s The First Teaser Trailer For The Last Of Us Season 2

Let's GO!

HBO has just dropped a very short first look at The Last of Us Season 2 as part of a wider promo video for its 2024-2025 slate.

The new teaser includes some recognisable scenes from The Last of Us Part II, including the dance flashback in Jackson and that terrifying moment of a fence full of infected, plus some glimpses at the Seraphites as well as Joel being questioned by the always-incredible Catherine O’Hara on his actions at the end of the first season/game.

You can see the new clips from The Last of Us Season 2 at around the 1:15 mark below:

The next season of HBO’s wildly-successful The Last of Us adaptation will be a shorter run than the first, clocking in at fewer episodes with just seven versus the original’s nine.

That’s according to Deadline, which exclusively reported the episode count, although it’s also claimed that a potential third season would be “significantly larger” and that at least one of the new Season 2 episodes will be quite long.

“The story material that we got from Part II of the game is way more than the story material that was in the first game, so part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story across seasons,” series co-creator, Craig Mazin, told the outlet. “When you do that, you look for natural breakpoints, and as we laid it out, this season, the natural breakpoint felt like it came after seven episodes.”

Those of us who’ve played The Last of Us Part II can probably estimate where that “natural breakpoint” is.

Mazin also hinted at the potential for a fourth season, essentially saying that it’ll all depend on viewership but that the story he and co-showrunner, Neil Druckmann, are envisioning could warrant more seasons.

“We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two seasons [2 and 3] because we’re taking our time and go down interesting pathways which we did a little bit in Season 1 too,” he added. “We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that — as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television — Season 3 will be significantly larger. And indeed, the story may require Season 4.”

“One thing is absolutely for sure, I don’t see how we could tell the story that remains after Season 2 is complete in one more season.”

Season two of HBO’s The Last Of Us expected to premiere in 2025 on Foxtel/Binge.
