The Nintendo 3DS Is Officially Dead

Japanese Nintendo is reporting that Nintendo has stopped production on all of the Nintendo 3DS consoles.

The Nintendo 3DS launched in 2011 and has surpassed 75 million units with 384 million units sold. Nintendo took the stance that they’d continue to support the 3DS early in on the Nintendo Switch’s life, but there hasn’t been a first-party release in 18 months.

In a statement to Gamesindustry.biz Nintendo confirmed that the 3DS has ended production. “We can confirm that the manufacturing of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has ended”.
