The Super Mario Movie Is Coming Out In Holiday 2022 And Has An Insane Cast

Shigeru Miyamoto appeared during this morning’s Nintendo Direct to give gamers an update on the Super Mario Bros. animated motion picture that’s been developed in partnership with Illumination, the animation studio behind films like Despicable Me and Sing.

He announced that the film would be releasing Holiday 2022, with an expected North American release date of December 21, 2022.

Aside from the film’s general existence, the most insane thing about it has got to be its cast. Nintendo has gone all out in securing the talents of Chris Pratt as Mario himself, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Jack Black (who’s already appearing in the Borderlands film directed by Eli Roth) as Bowser.

Though we’re interested to hear Pratt’s interpretation on everyone’s favourite Italian plumber, beloved the world over, it’s heartening to know Charles Martinet (the actual voice of Mario) will be attached to the project, voicing a number of cameos throughout the film.

We’ll obviously have more for you as the news trickles out.
