Everything Announced At The Nintendo Indie World Showcase

So many great indies!

Nintendo streamed a brand-new Indie World showcase overnight, and although there was a collective sigh at the lack of anything Silksong-related, it packed some fantastic upcoming games into its 20-minute presentation, including some very neat surprises.

Take a look at everything that featured:

Little Kitty, Big City

Explore a big city as a little kitty. Cause mischief, purr and meow, get belly rubs. All the good stuff – plus cute hats! This one is shaping up to be purr-ety special. Little Kitty, Big City launches for Nintendo Switch (and other platforms) on May 9th.

SteamWorld Heist II

Right at the tail end of the presentation, Nintendo said it had “one more thing” to show, at which point Hollow Knight faithfuls likely started wiping off the clown make-up, only for something completely surprising (and arguably more exciting) to appear in SteamWorld Heist II! The SteamWorld series has never steered us wrong, and Heist was a delight, so this is exciting.

SteamWorld Heist II launches for Nintendo Switch (and other platforms) on Aug. 8.

Europa

A truly gorgeous-looking, Ghibli-inspired sci-fi adventure in a lush but lonely world full of secrets to uncover. Europa launches on Nintendo Switch later this year and a free demo is out now on the eShop.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate

More Turtles games! This time in the form of a dimension-hopping roguelike action game with up to four-player online co-op. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is headed to Switch as a timed console exclusive in July.

Cat Quest III

The cats are back! Explore an all-new world in single-player or local co-op, with an improved combat system and more clawn-tent than ever – plus there’s ship stuff! It’s out for Nintendo Switch (and other platforms) on August 8th.

Yars Rising

Coming from WayForward, the folks responsible for Shantae and River City Girls, Yars Rising puts a whole new spin on the Atari classic, Yars’ Revenge, with an action platformer/metroidvania that also features Atari-inspired minigames. Coming to Nintendo Switch (and everything else) later this year.

Valley Peaks

An adorable looking first-person rock climbing adventure with plenty of “cosy game” elements and starring frogs. Beautiful. This one’s headed to Nintendo Switch later this year.

Sticky Business

Another cosy game starring frogs? But this time they’re running a sticker shop and I can create the stickers myself from hundreds of elements? And it’s out now?? I’m in.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

We’ll have a proper preview of this up shortly, but if you’re a fan of Simogo’s previous titles you’ll probably already know everything you need to. A mysterious hotel, 100s of puzzles and (hopefully) a pen and paper. It’s coming to PC and first for consoles on Nintendo Switch on May 16th.

stitch.

This looks like the perfect game for sitting inside with a hot choccie and a blanket and just letting the world fall away while you solve embroidery-based puzzles. Best thing is it’s out right now on the Switch eShop!

ANTONBLAST

This one instantly reminded me of playing Wario Land 4 on the GBA, so I’m all in. Smash your way through levels and then fang it back to the beginning as fast as you can, as well as contend with huge bosses and marvel at the hand-drawn pixel art. This one’s out for Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive on November 12th, and a free demo is available now in the eShop.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game:

Think all of those online personality tests you’ve taken, but instead of a questionnaire it’s a whole adventure video game starring an android attempting to uncover the secrets of your creator. And then you get the result. I’m anxious thinking about it. Out later this year.

ANIMAL WELL

A super-intriguing puzzle platformer with what looks like tons of secrets to uncover and a glorious retro art style. It’s out on May 9th!

Another Crab’s Treasure

Soulslike action but starring a heroic crab? Yeah, I’m in. This one’s launching real soon on Switch and other platforms on April 25th.

SCHiM

First revealed a while back now, this one has a really striking art style and a great little gameplay hook – jumping from shadow to shadow in an isometric environment. It’s coming July 18.

Duck Detective: The Secret Salami

It’s a duck. Detective. What more do I need to say? Coming to Nintendo Switch on May 23.

BZZZT

A fast-paced, retro-inspired platformer coming later this year.
