Nintendo Australia is holding another big, online Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament this weekend, inviting players from Australia and New Zealand to compete for My Nintendo Gold Points and commemorative merchandise.
Across three days from Saturday the 14th of January to Monday the 16th, anyone with access to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a Nintendo Switch Online subscription will be able to join in the fun by entering the predetermined lobbies via special tournament codes. Here’s how:
Join the tournament each day from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. AEDT by selecting Online Play, picking Tournaments, and then clicking on Search by Code. Once there, you can enter the day’s tournament code:

Courses from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass will also be included in the course rotation, regardless of if you own them, but if you’re keen to brush up before the weekend make sure you’ve got your Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass membership or purchase the Booster Course Pass separately.
As for prizes, the top 10 players every day will receive the following:
- 1x Commemorative Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: AU/NZ Summer Grand Prix 3-Pin Set
- 1x Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: AU/NZ Grand Prix Tote Bag
- 1x Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: AU/NZ Grand Prix Mug
- 1,000 My Nintendo Gold Points
40 randomly selected players across the weekend will receive one of the two following prize packs, also selected at random:
- 1x Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: AU/NZ Grand Prix Tote Bag
- 500 My Nintendo Gold Points
- OR
- 1x Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: AU/NZ Grand Prix Mug
- 500 My Nintendo Gold Points
All players will also receive a participation reward of 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points per day that they enter.
