Nintendo might have declined to attend at the now-cancelled 2023 E3 event in June, but that hasn’t stopped it from holding its own convention-like experience in the US this year.
Nintendo Live, which was previously a Japan-only event and returned from a hiatus last year, is expanding this year to a new home of Seattle in September 2023.
The in-person event promises a celebration for all ages, with Nintendo game-inspired activities across a “large-scale themed area” and designed for both hardcore Nintendo fans and families. It’ll include playable Nintendo Switch games, live entertainment, tournaments and mascots to take photos with.

“Fans of all ages can currently experience the unique games, characters and worlds of Nintendo on Nintendo Switch, but we want to expand that scope with a new experience,” said Nintendo of America Presidentm Doug Bowser in the press release. “With Nintendo Live 2023, we’re giving attendees a chance to celebrate together with family, friends and the broader Nintendo community in the spirit of fun and creating long-lasting memories.”
So far no concrete date, venue or ticketing details have been announced, and Nintendo hasn’t indicated that the event will feature any sort of new product or information or tie in with its wider marketing plans such as Nintendo Direct showcases – it definitely is skewing this more as a celebratory event for families.
