Cyberpunk 2077 Is Going The Extra Mile For Localisation

There’s been a lot of controversies that have surrounded the development culture at CD Projekt Red and the lengths they’re going to in making Cyberpunk 2077 as perfect as they possibly can.

In a move that hasn’t cost the company thousands of man-hours, whilst making great strides towards a level of localisation rarely seen in blockbuster games, the developer has partnered with thirty-party tech company JALI Research to generate the facial animations that match the spoken dubs in all of the game’s supported languages.

Through this tech, the team is able to procedurally-generate authentic lip-syncing and mouth movements to match the various dialects. It’s pretty impressive stuff.

In a pretty robust demonstration, JALI Research went through the workflow involved in producing results like those lauded in the above tweets from CD Projekt Red’s Miles Tost and Philipp Weber.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on November 19 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Optimised versions for both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are said to be arriving in 2021.
