Thanks, PC Gamer, for both making and ruining my day by highlighting the existence of Trombone Champ.
The “world’s first trombone rhythm game” is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, tasking players with playing the trombone along to over 20 pieces of music from a variety of genres and eras. You’ll use the mouse to slide your tromboning (apparently that’s not a word) arm back and forth and click to blow, letting you play the notes shown on screen or use your artistic expression to play whatever the hell you want.
There’s more to the game than just playing music though, with “Toots” to earn and spend on unlocking Tromboner Cards (hehe) which unlock new skins, instruments and trombone lore. There are also lots of baboons, and something called the Trombiverse. I don’t know or care to understand, but it’s wild and incredible.
Just watch, trust me:
