Sons Of The Forest Sold A Whopping 2 Million Copies In Its First 24 Hours

A huge launch!

We knew that Sons of the Forest, the sequel to developer Endnight Games’ incredibly popular 2014 indie survival horror simulator, was going to be popular – but it’s already proving to be a megahit even in its newly-launched “early access” state.

The studio shared the news on Twitter over the weekend that it’d managed to sell over 2 million copies of the game in just the first 24 hours of it being on sale on Steam, which is a momentous effort:

“Hey Everyone,

Thanks to those who have joined us in our Early Access journey into ‘Sons Of The Forest’ We have sold over 2 million copies in the first 24 hours, and are very excited for what we have in store for players in the coming weeks.

the team endnight”

Announced all the way back in 2019 at The Game Awards, Sons of the Forest was subject to multiple delays before Endnight finally settled on a release date of February 23rd, 2023. Even then, a somewhat last-minute decision was made to rethink the launch as an “early access” period rather than delay it once again for a full release.

That seemingly hasn’t stopped eager players jumping in as soon as possible, evidently.

Currently the game has a Very Positive user rating on Steam from nearly 50,000 reviews with many praising the visuals, grotesque designs, survival gameplay and overall stability of its online multiplayer while levelling criticism mostly at a lack of story content.
