PC Players Aren’t Happy With The Last Of Us Part I

The angriest clickers of all.

The Last of Us Part I’s fresh PC port just dropped, marking the series debut on the platform, but it isn’t all celebrations just yet.

The game’s had something of a tepid launch, with users reporting a litany of issues with the game’s PC version from poor or inconsistent frame rates and stuttering to lengthy and intrusive load times and plenty of crashes. It’s not just users on older or lower-spec PCs that are having issues either, with high-end setups packing modern GPUs also experiencing all the same problems.

Right now, on Steam, the game has a “Mostly Negative” user review score, with user reviews calling it a “Loading Screen Simulator” and noting some astronomical CPU and VRAM usage from the game.

Unlike other, better-received PlayStation Studios PC ports like Horizon Zero Dawn and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which came from Nixxes Software, this version was developed with Iron Galaxy, who also led the port of the troubled PC version of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

Naughty Dog has already issued a response regarding the problems, saying “The Last of Us Part I PC players: we’ve heard your concerns, and our team is actively investigating multiple issues you’ve reported. We will continue to update you, but our team is prioritizing updates and will address issues in upcoming patches.”

We gave the PS5 version of The Last of Us Part I a very diplomatic 9/10 in our PS5 review, saying “The Last of Us Part I is, for all intents and purposes, the same The Last of Us that you know. It doesn’t take liberties to completely reshape the experience and nor should it. It does, however, smartly enhance the original’s combat through A.I. advancements, and drags the original’s production values over the line to create a product that can stand unified with its more polished sequel. The Last Of Us: Part I is without doubt the most definitive version of The Last of Us on the market.”
