Developer Starbreeze and publisher Deep Silver have revealed that the upcoming co-operative heist sim, PAYDAY 3, is getting a closed beta on both PC and Xbox nest week from August 2nd to August 7th (adjust for local time zones). The closed beta will contain one heist and four heisters for players to try, with “most” weaponry and cosmetics included and a cap on infamy level.
Instructions for signing up to the PAYDAY 3 Closed Beta are as follows:
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR THE PAYDAY 3 CLOSED BETA?
- Steam: Visit the PAYDAY 3 store page and press “Request Access” near the top of the page.
- Xbox: Go to the Xbox Insider Hub, navigate to previews, select PAYDAY 3.
Applications are completely random. If you’re successful, you’ll receive an email informing you, with approvals apparently being done several times per day.
CAN I CAPTURE VIDEO OR STREAM THE BETA?
Yes, you are free to create content from your experience in the Closed Beta.
ARE THERE LIMITATIONS IN THE BETA THAT WON’T BE IN THE RELEASE VERSION OF THE GAME?
Yes. This is a slice of the full game containing only 1 heist and 4 heisters. Most, but not all, weaponry and cosmetics are included. There’s also a level cap of infamy level 22, meaning that not all skill points will be available during the beta.
WILL PAYDAY 3 CLOSED BETA PROGRESSION CARRY OVER TO THE FULL GAME?
No, progression from the PAYDAY 3 beta will not carry over to the release version of the game. This is true for both the Steam beta and Xbox beta.
We recently had the chance to try the game for ourselves, and came away excited to play more, saying “… I’ve come away from my time with PAYDAY 3 sure of the fact that it will please series veterans. While it plays it relatively safe in terms of improving on a tried formula, it adds some new wrinkles that further flesh out options within heists and their numerous phases. The SURPHAZE Art Gallery is also a promising look into the types of locations we can expect in PAYDAY 3’s heists, and I have no doubt that challenging difficulty modifiers will bring a lot of replay value to the table when the game launches.”
PAYDAY 3 releases on September 21st for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Amazon has the cheapest shipped pre-order at $54 including delivery.
