Baldur’s Gate 3’s Characters Were Never Meant To Be So Horny At Launch

Taking the "player" out of "role player."

Bad news if you’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 and seemingly discovered that you’re a bit of a smooth operator – it turns out that the folks at Larian Studios had accidentally turned up the horny-meter on its cast of characters to a 69/10 thanks to a bug in its romance systems that significantly lowered their inhibitions (yep, apparently Gale has those).

Speaking to TheGamer at the recent PAX West expo in Seattle, the game’s director Swen Vincke admitted that, at least at launch, the game’s characters were far too quick to shack up with players attempting to “romance” them.

“So… it was a bug,” Vincke told the outlet. “The approval thresholds were too low when we shipped. That’s why they were so horny in the beginning. It wasn’t supposed to be that way. We’ve fixed it since, at least for some of them. We’re still fixing a few of them.”

“It wasn’t intended,” he added. “Especially Gale. He wasn’t supposed to be like, instantly there.”

News that characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 have been sharpening their skills at the game of “Hard to Get” might be a bummer for the speedrunning community, who’ve been having a lot of fun with their Sex% speedruns – seeing how quickly they can get from go to woah, as it were.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now for PC and in early launch on PS5, with the wider PS5 release kicking off on September 7th at 2AM AEST.
