Diablo IV Review

Diablo 4’s Ray-Tracing Update Is Coming This Month

Hell, yeah.

As part of a number of announcements at GDC 2024, NVIDIA and Blizzard have revealed that Diablo IV, last year’s epic sequel in the long-running RPG franchise, is getting its big update for PC that will add RTX ray-tracing effects to the game very soon.

The update is dropping on March 26th, two days before the game is due to arrive on Game Pass, and as previously revealed will add two major ray-traced effects. Armour, water, windows, and other suitably reflective surfaces will now feature accurate, realistic ray-traced reflections and ray-traced transparent reflections, and ray-traced shadows will be implemented to add even more richness and dynamism to scenes.

You can check out a trailer for the update below:

NVIDIA also revealed details on a number of other games either upcoming or with newly-added technologies, and you can read all of that right here.

We gave Diablo IV a 9/10 in our review last year, saying, “Diablo IV doesn’t just feel like a return to form for the franchise, but also for Blizzard as a developer. There’s a keen awareness for what makes Diablo special present in Diablo IV. It’s as contemporary as it is traditional, understanding that ARPGs have evolved past the days of button mashing, but also paying homage to its forebears and legacy. It’s not without issues, but Diablo IV delivers where it counts.”
