The Walking Dead’s Final Season Might Still Be Coming Out

After Telltale’s sudden and immediate closure late last week, what was going to happen to their current projects was largely unknown. Many were presumably cancelled, but Netflix has confirmed their Minecraft: Story Mode collaboration was still ongoing, whilst Telltale’s Stranger Things project has been shelved with Netflix looking to produce something else, somewhere else.

However, perhaps the biggest questions surrounded the final season of The Walking Dead, a series that started it all for Telltale in many ways.

The first episode had only recently come out, and the second due out this week. In a statement released by the studio, it seems like it mightn’t be all bad news.

The statement reads, “Hi everyone, we have a Walking Dead update for you. Multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion. While we can’t make any promises today, we are actively working towards a solution that will allow episode 3 and 4 to be completed and released in some form. In the meantime, episode 2 will release tomorrow across all platforms as planned. We hope to have answers for your other questions soon.”

Who they might partner with remains unknown, but its a huge relieve to hear that the season might be wrapped up. Only four episodes were scheduled for this season (despite the usual five) so we ought to have Clementine’s story wrapped up the way it was intended if this goes ahead. Fingers crossed!
