Shenmue III Has Been Delayed (Again)

Unfortunately for fans of the Shenmue series, the partially crowd-funded next installment in the saga, Shenmue III is now being delayed by developers. Previously, the game was slated to release in August of this year but creator Yu Kazuki and developer Deep Silver have taken to Shenmue III’s Kickstarter page to explain why it is now expected to release months later on November 19, 2019.

Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished.

We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!

We thank you for your patience and understanding,

Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver

Upon its release, Shenmue III will be available on PC and PlayStation 4 with physical and digital editions on both platforms. Though we don’t have all of the details, thus far we know that the plot will follow the events of Shenmue II, released in 2001 and starring protagonist Ryo Hazuki, a teenage martial artist who, after discovering the identity of his father’s murderer, embarks on a new journey deeper into enemy territory. According to the game’s director, the events of Shenmue III will not conclude the Shenmue narrative and the developers hope to add more games to the series in the future.
