A week after releasing, Fall Guys is already one the biggest success story of the year. Publisher Devolver Digital has announced that the game sold 2 million copies on Steam, which is pretty damn impressive given the fact that it released less than a week ago and comes in at a $30 price tag on Steam (whilst it’s free for PlayStation Plus users).
The game has has server issues since its launch last Tuesday, but this a lot more understandable given the amount of people that are playing the game on PC, let alone the millions and millions that would be playing on PS4.
Along with this stat, it’s also been announced that 1.5 million crowns have been grabbed, 60 million beans have fallen and 23 million hours have been watched on Twitch.
We gave Fall Guys a 9/10 in our review and said: Fall Guys is not only a charming, whimsical take on one of television’s biggest spectator events, it’s on my shortlist of the year’s very best games. I don’t think the Mediatonic team could have ever dreamed just how big of a success their one-page pitch inspired by It’s A Knockout would amount to. It’s insanely addictive with the rapid turnaround episode-to-episode making it easier than ever to keep telling one of gaming’s biggest lies: “Alright, just one more.”
