The Ghost Of Tsushima Movie Adaptation Has Found Its Writer

As revealed by Deadline, Sony Pictures has appointed a screenwriter for their upcoming film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch’s open-world action-adventure samurai title.

Though Takashi Doscher has earned the job of adapting Jin Sakai’s story of struggle in freeing his people and home from Mongol rule, his current credits are rather sparse. They include Only, a romantic sci-fi film, which he also directed, and Blue which is still in development but is set to be a twist on Japanese monster movies.

Though his films haven’t been critical darlings, the writing has been lauded so that’s a positive sign, especially with John Wick visionary Chad Stahelski at the helm.

Ghost of Tsushima’s film adaptation is part of an initiative from Sony Pictures to adapt their popular video game IP to the big screen, and the endeavour has already seen some success with Uncharted which has been a box office success. Along with the upcoming HBO TV series for The Last of Us, it has also been confirmed that we’ll be seeing a God of War series produced by Amazon.

Now we’ve just got to hope they cast Daisuke Tsuji as Jin Sakai after owning the role in the video game.
