The Latest Street Fighter 6 Trailer Confirms The Final Roster, Modes And A Closed Beta

It's looking good.

Over the weekend, at Tokyo Game Show, Capcom showcased a lot of Street Fighter 6 information, including final confirmation on the base roster that the game will be launching with.

The first blowout included our first in-game look at Street Fighter II veterans E.Honda, Ken, Blanka, and Dhalsim. It also detailed the single-player and online modes and how they’ll work. In the open-world World Tour mode, you’ll be playing as a character you create yourself and use abilities like Hadoukens and Spinning Bird Kicks to traverse the world. Online modes will allow players to sit down at cabinets and even play retro games while they wait for a round.

You can check out the full showcase from Capcom’s presentation below, but that’s not all.

Also revealed was the introductory video to the game, which confirms the characters that the game will be launching with when it’s finally released to the masses next year.

The game will launch with eighteen characters – Luke, Jamie, Manon, Kimberly, Marisa, Lily, JP, Juri, Dee Jay, Cammy, Ryu, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, and Dhalsim.

If you’ve been following the leaks, you’ll notice a few are missing. We can only assume this means that at some point, Akuma, Rashid, Ed, and newcomer AKI will be downloadable content.

No plans have been revealed for the post-launch support for Street Fighter 6, but given the other games have ended with just under fifty characters, we can only hope the same will happen here eventually too.

Capcom also announced that there will be a closed beta test in October, which you can register for HERE. It’ll be for the newer generation of consoles only, and will feature eight characters across six stages. Super meaty. The intention of the beta is to test out the functionality of crossplay.

Street Fighter 6 is still on track for release in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
