Without a word of warning, Square Enix has dropped a lengthy new Final Fantasy XVI trailer overnight, showing off more of the game’s world and introducing some new characters.
This new trailer, titled Ambition, focusses primarily on the game’s cast of Dominants – the characters charged with transforming into the fearsome Eikons. As well as the characters we’ve been introduced to in the past, we meet Dion Lesage, the Dominant in control of Bahamut, and Barnabas Tharmr who possesses Odin.

The team has also reiterated that the game is on track for its mid-2023 release, saying that development has “entered the home stretch, and is currently concentrating its efforts on debugging, tweaking, polishing, and optimization.”
The game’s Director, Hiroshi Takai, added to the trailer release with the below message:

Our third trailer is finally here and jam-packed with exciting new information that provides a better picture of how the game’s setting, lore, and characters tie in with our compelling narrative. Hopefully it was worth the wait!
As the game edges closer to completion, the team has turned its full attention to debugging and final adjustments. Now that things are starting to come together, the game is sizing up to be something truly special.
We know you are all hungry to see more, but for now we hope that this little peek into the world of FINAL FANTASY XVI is enough to keep you both satisfied and (of course) speculating until our next big reveal.
