Sonic Frontiers has proved itself to be something of a hit since it launched just over a month ago, having reportedly sold over 2.5 million copies in that time.
It’s a significant number for a game that faced divisive previews leading into its launch and equally divisive reviews following, but it seems as though Sonic fans were happy to get lost in its “open zone” adventure regardless.
For the sake of comparison to other, moderately well-received Sonic games, Sonic Generations has reportedly sold just over 3 million units in its lifetime while Sonic Mania has cracked at least the 1 million mark (that’s according to VGChartz).
Sonic Frontiers came in as the fourth-best selling video game for November 2022 according to NPD.
We scored Sonic Frontiers a 7.5/10 in our review, saying “Sonic Frontiers is an unsteady first run at the open-world genre for the blue blur but Sonic Team has crafted something endearing and immensely enjoyable all the same.”
