PlayStation has revealed which games on PS5 and PS4 were most downloaded from the PlayStation Store in 2022.
The top 20 games on both platforms, as well as top 10 round-ups for both PlayStation VR and free-to-play titles were shared over on the PlayStation Blog, so head there to see the full lists, but we’ve also broken down the core top 10s here.
While the data unfortunately doesn’t contain anything specific to Aussie gamers, it’s certainly interesting to see how it all shakes out between the US/Canada regions and Europe, with some pretty obvious differences like FIFA 23 taking out the top spot in the football-obsessed EU versus Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II resonating more with Americans… Then there are the year’s obvious heavy hitters such as God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring sitting amongst the usual evergreen franchises of NBA and GTA.

On the PS4 front, things look more or less the same, though it’s interesting to see that God of War Ragnarok seemingly captured a much smaller last-gen audience than on the PS5, while both football and basketball had so much staying power in their respective regions that both the 2022 and 2021 releases of NBA and FIFA managed to crack the top 10. Also, props to European PS4 players for really getting into The Forest last year.
