Assassin’s Creed Codename Red Sounds To Be Another Stealth-Heavy Entry

With both a samurai and shinobi protagonist!

Insider Gaming, ever a source of scintillating Assassin’s Creed leaks, now has more news to report concerning Ubisoft’s upcoming feudal Japan entry, with the working title Assassin’s Creed Codename Red.

Citing undisclosed sources, the outlet is reporting that the game will feature two playable protagonists, with one being a samurai and the other a shinobi, with the character in Ubisoft’s original reveal trailer apparently being the female samurai, while the Shinobi character is said to be an African refugee who’s learned the way of the Creed.

IG’s report also claims that one of Codename Red’s core design philosophies is a focus on stealth gameplay, echoing the efforts of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Ubisoft Quebec is reportedly looking towards other immersive stealth titles like Hitman or Splinter Cell and will have players hiding bodies, using cover and extinguishing lights as early examples.

The next series entry, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, will launch in 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

A Collector’s Edition for the game was also revealed and it includes a Collector’s Case, a Basim figurine, a Baghdad map, a mini artbook, Basim’s broach, a steelbook. a mini game soundtrack and the Assassin’s Creed: Mirage Deluxe Edition. It’s available for pre-order on EB Games for $229.95 HERE.

Mirage will be set in Baghdad, and it’s described as a tribute to early Assassin’s Creed games, taking things back to where it all started with the game being a linear narrative driven action adventure game that focuses on parkour and stealth assassinations, without the many RPG elements that were featured in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.

It’ll star Basim from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as the playable protagonist, and is set 20 years before that game. The game will also star Emmy Winner Shoreh Aghdashloo playing the role of Rashan, who is Basim’s mentor.
