Here’s an interesting tidbit that’s come up in the wake of Insomniac dropping a banger new Story Trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 this morning.
Responding to tweets remarking on how good the new character models look for the game’s cast of characters, Peter, Mary Jane and Miles in particular, the studio’s Community and Marketing Director has made the bold claim that “it’ll be even better by launch.”
Obviously it’s a bit vague, but the easy inference here is that Insomniac is expecting to have further polished up the game’s visuals, or at least its character models, in the coming months as it puts the finishing touches on the game. That might seem like an obvious thing to have happen, but when it’s seemed like Insomniac had already been putting its best foot forward in showing off just how gorgeous Spider-Man 2 is, it’s somewhat surprising to think they’re yet to show the game at its best.
Well, except for some questionable water stuff in that first gameplay trailer, but we quizzed Senior Creative Director at Insomniac, Brian Intihar, about that ourselves and his comments echoed similarly to Stevenson’s today, “…you know, we’re going to continue to work on the game till our Project Director tells us to stop working on it. So imagine what you see today will only get better. Of course, we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we weren’t listening to our fans. And we’re gonna do the best job we can to ship the game at the highest quality and the best ability we can just like any other Insomniac game.”
Sony and Insomniac also revealed today that one of the first proper limited edition PS5 consoles it’s created is in-fact a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 console. It’ll release with a special Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DualSense controller in the box, and Sony will also be releasing the face plates and DualSense controller separately. Pre-orders go live soon and you can find out exactly when and where to secure on in Australia right here.
