EA Sports UFC 5 Has A Release Date And It’s A Current-Gen Exclusive

After officially announcing the game a couple of months ago, EA Sports has finally lifted the lid proper on EA Sports UFC 5, the first entry in its MMA simulator series in three years.

The new game is launching only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 27th, with a Digital Deluxe Edition granting early access starting on October 24th.

Powered by the Frostbite Engine for the first time, this new entry also introduces what developer EA Vancouver is calling the “Real Impact System” or RIS (not to be confused with RSI, which is one of the many reasons I don’t fight people in real life, also because I’m scared), which aims to provide the most authentic representation of fight progression and damage to date.

Fighters can be inflicted with up to 64,000 possible combinations of facial damage along – hopefully not all at once – and damage sustained will have real impact on their ability to fight. EA uses blood trickling into a fighters eye from a brow impact causing their vision to be impaired and leaving them more vulnerable on that side which sounds pretty wild.
