It’s hard to believe it’s snuck up this fast, but Mortal Kombat 1 is nearly here. NetherRealms’ rebooted Mortal Kombat universe arrives next week on September 19th – or this week on September 14th if you’re lucky enough to be picking up the Premium Edition – for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC and to mark the occasion the studio has dropped a massive launch trailer.
Clocking in at four minutes long, this trailer once again introduces us to this new story set in a world reborn by the Fire God Liu Kang, where any chance at peace is quickly torn in two by a new battle between Earthrealm and Outworld. It’s basically a huge amalgamation of all the of the trailer marketing that NetherRealm and WB Games have done to date, showing off its cast of characters (including Johnny Cage’s Jean-Claude Van Damme variant!), its new Invasion Mode, Kameo fighters and lots and lots of gore.

Mortal Kombat 1 releases on September 19th, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Amazon currently has pre-orders for $84 including free shipping. The Premium Edition is also available and comes with the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin, among other goodies, and also launches five days early on September 14th.
