Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Release Date

Here’s How Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Take Advantage Of The PS5’s Capabilities

Excelsior!

The PlayStation Blog has just published a deep-dive into some of the new innovations that Spidey fans can expect when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 drops on October 20th, thanks to the power and unique feature set of the PlayStation 5, following a recent hands-on with the game.

There’s a lot we already know, like how ridiculously-fast the fast travel will be as you switch between Peter and Miles in the open New York City environment, but there are also some interesting, deeper tidbits that will no doubt excite those hoping for a truly new-gen Spider-Man experience now that the game is free from the shackles of the previous generation of PlayStation hardware.

Some of the heightened visual features include hugely-improved facial capture work and even subtle simulated musculature to enhance character animations both in cutscenes and gameplay, ray-tracing implementation cross the Fidelity and Performance graphics modes, and improved crowd density that will even see civilians enter and occupy buildings – no more staring into thousands of seemingly-abandoned buildings!

The haptic feedback and adaptive trigger implementations seem a cut above what we’ve seen before as well, with the iconic Black Suit’s twitching and writhing being felt in the DualSense Controller, and one-off events in the game like Spidey trying to align a particle beam giving players a challenge based on varying levels of pressure in the controller’s triggers.
