Konami Has Confirmed The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection’s Resolution And Performance On All Platforms

No 4K visuals, sadly.

For those that have been curious about the kinds of resolution and performance to expect from all the titles included in Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1, the publisher has just shared a table confirming the exact targets for each of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

The good news is, both MGS2 and MGS3 will be displayed at 60FPS on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The less-exciting (though not overly surprising) news is that the original game is locked to 30FPS on all platforms, and not a single version of any of the games will display in a resolution above 1080p – no 4K MGS for you here.

On the Switch, you’re getting a 1080p30 presentation across the board on TV mode, with a drop to 720p in handheld mode as expected.

While there will no doubt be some disappointed to see the framerate caps for such old games locked to what they are even on the most modern platforms, there may very well be technical limitations stemming back to the original versions of games, like Metal Gear Solid on the PS1, that would have locked animations, audio and other bits to the intended frame cycles. Here’s the full list of targets as shared by Konami:
