Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Sold 5 Million Copies In Just 11 Days

Excelsior!

PlayStation and Insomniac have revealed that the massively-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which launched on October 20th, has already managed to cross the 5 million sold mark. While it wasn’t shared in its public messaging, according to PlayStation in its recent financial report, that feat was achieved in just the first 11 days of its release.

Insomniac wrote in a post celebrating the news, “Woo! We’re incredibly honoured to announce Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sold over 5 MILLION COPIES! Thank you to our incredible community for supporting us and helping us reach this milestone!”

PlayStation had previously revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was its fastest selling release yet when it racked up 2.5 million sales in just 24 hours of launch.

For comparisons sake, God of War Ragnarok “sold through” 5.1 million copies across both PS4 and PS5 in its first week, and Bethesda’s massive 2023 release, Starfield, racked up 6 million players in around the same time frame – though that was naturally helped along by a release on two platforms as well its inclusion on Game Pass.

We gave Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a huge 9/10 in our review, saying “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 cleverly pairs its added width and breadth with more depth and meaningful new gameplay and story opportunities. There’s rarely a moment here that doesn’t feel thrilling, enchanting, heartbreaking, awe-inspiring or some combination of it all. Beyond untangling the finer threads of its design or narrative ambitions though, it’s genuinely just the most fun, gorgeous open world superhero game out there.”
