Update: The newest update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now live, bringing with it the long-awaited New Game+ mode as well as Mission Replay, increased level cap, the ability to change the time of day and new accessibility features like Screen Reader, Audio Descriptions and more.

“We’re so excited to bring all of these accessibility features and improvements to you – thank you for your patience and support as we prepared for the 1.002 update. With our first-ever Screen Reader, we cover not only the settings but the FNSM App and all the Touch Pad menus including comprehensive map, skill tree, tech readouts and more,” says Sam Schaffel, accessibility design researcher at Insomniac Games in an official blog post.

“Robust cinematic caption and customization options cover off-screen sounds, emotional music cues and key gameplay sounds – written concisely so they can be easily read during calm scenes or intense set pieces. All these features, along with over 60 others, were crafted with love and care to add to player’s experiences. Original: After recently announcing a March 7th date for the upcoming patch bringing a New Game+ option to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac has now further detailed what fans can expect from the update including new content and options as well as a special DLC bundle for charity.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac community director James Stevenson has shed a bit more light on what to expect from the Version 1.002 update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Obviously the big-ticket feature is a New Game+ option which will allow players to go back through the game (optionally on a harder difficulty) with all of their suits and abilities carrying over, or just replay their favourite missions. There will also be Ultimate Levels to achieve, Golden Gadget styles, added Photo Mode features, time-of-day customisation and other added bonuses.

New suit styles are on the way as well, which will be unlocked via Ultimate Level progression in the New Game+ mode, along with brand-new Hellfire Gala suits for both Peter and Miles.

On the accessibility front, previously-promised audio descriptions and screen reader features are coming in the patch along with settings for cinematic captions and high contrast outlines, adding to the already-exhaustive list of playability features in the game.

Finally, Insomniac and Marvel have partnered with California-based support group Gameheads to create a special charity DLC pack which will cost $5 USD (local price pending) and come with “Fly N’ Fresh” suits for Peter and Miles, plus new Photo Mode frames and stickers. 100% of the purchase price will go to Gameheads’ mission to support low-income youth and youth of colour in the US to get a start in the video game industry.

“Our creative collaboration with Insomniac values fostering a world of belonging via our characters in our video games. The Gameheads initiative is a real-world manifestation of this. Marvel has always been about reflecting the world outside one’s world authentically, especially in ways that make creative endeavors and Marvel storytelling more accessible, diverse, and inclusive,” said Eric Monacelli, Senior Director, Product and Franchise Development at Marvel Games.
