Against All Odds, Alienware’s New Gaming PCs Almost Look Like Regular PCs

This is what the US government meant when they said aliens were down to Earth.

I don’t know what kind of upside-down, comic book multiverse-arse backwards day I’ve woken up in, but Alienware has unveiled its new line of Aurora 16 gaming PCs and they look… normal? This year’s models have done away with the “I think it’s about to take off?” vibe completely in favour of something much more svelte and sexy, shrinking down the overall form factor of the PCs by a whopping 40% as a result.

If anything, the new look is incredibly tasteful and understated. Maybe they should change the brand to Underware? [Note to self: Delete that last line before I hit publish].

I wish I looked this good.

It’s a design that means when people visit my house, I won’t be frantically trying to hide a giant, glaring space robot of a PC under my race car bed out of embarrassment. Now when folks come ’round I’ll say “Look at this!” and they’ll say “That’s a very nice gaming PC, Kieron, but I have other peoples’ McDonald’s to deliver.”

All this is being done with the impressive claim from Alienware that, despite shedding a ton of plastic and regret, these new Aurora 16 PCs meet or exceed the performance profile of their predecessors. They’re more performant while being quieter, cooler and also the other kind of cooler thanks to something called a Stadium Loop which sounds physically exhausting but is actually just a neat LED oval around the big air intake on the side.

Of course, for all of those number nerds out there wanting to know about specs, should’ve gone to Specsavers these are still very much the grunty, over-engineered beasts you’ve come to expect from Alienware. The new Aurora 16 desktops will feature the same level of customisability that you’ve come to expect, allowing for configurations in the realm of the following:

  • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 40 Series GPUs
  • 12th and 13th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors
  • Wi-Fi 6 (or 6E) and 2.5Gbps Ethernet for both wired and wireless connections
  • Up to 64GB of 5200 MT/s DDR5 Memory or 32GB of 5600 MT/s DDR5 Memory
  • Up to 8TB (2x4TB) of SSD Storage
  • 80 Plus Platinum rated Power supplies (500W or 1000W)
  • Optional extra 1TB Hard Drive for expanded storage
  • Windows 11 Home and access to hundreds of high-quality games with the included one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

All of the front holes and back holes.

“But Kieron, when can I get one of these and for how much?” I hear you ask, through the power of my imagination. Well, the Alienware Aurora 16 is launching right about now in parts of the world and starts at $1,749.99 USD (around $2,700 AUD or approximately one week’s rent in inner Melbourne).

I’m still waiting for the wombat that delivers my mail to bring word on Aussie release timings and price, but they’re on the way. More powerful models are set to launch later down the track, too, so you’ve got extra time to save for a bigger upgrade than the life-changing day I switched my toilet paper for flushable wipes.
