The Initiative Are Partnering With Crystal Dynamics To Work On Perfect Dark

It’s been announced this morning that in an effort to double down on the production and development of their upcoming Perfect Dark reboot, Microsoft’s brand new studio The Initiative would be partnering with Crystal Dynamics on the game.

Crystal Dynamics are obviously known for their work on the reboot trilogy for Tomb Raider as well as their most recent effort with Marvel’s Avengers.

There is a history that exists between the two companies with former Crystal Dynamics lead Darrell Gallagher spearheading the studio.

A follow-up tweet reads from The Initiative reads:

“The teams couldn’t pass up a chance to work together. We’re still early in development, but incredibly excited to use this unique opportunity to deliver on the vision for Perfect Dark!”

The Initiative was formed years earlier, built from the ground up as the Xbox brand’s hopeful answer to PlayStation’s Santa Monica Studios. The studio’s goal has been to produce, in Xbox’s words, “AAAA games” after snatching up talent from teams like Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Rockstar Games, and Respawn Entertainment.

Perfect Dark was officially revealed last year, with the game still in early development. We’ve also been given no indication on when Perfect Dark might launch, though with two studios hard at work on it now, we’re hopeful the wait won’t be long.
