The Xbox Games Showcase Will Be Two Hours Long With No CG Trailers For First Party Titles

And no more 12-month promises.

The Xbox Games Showcase + Starfield Direct for 2023 is fast approaching its June 12th premiere, and with the company plugging it more and more as we inch closer to the date, Microsoft’s VP of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has been following up some lingering fan questions around the event.

Greenberg’s original tweet reveals that the show will be about two hours long and feature non-stop games (and Starfield), but in the replies he’s also dropped some other juicy tidbits. For one, the event won’t feature fully-CG trailers for any of its Xbox first party titles. Greenberg says everything will be “either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematic,” and that each trailer will be clearly labelled as to what it contains.

The VP also revealed that this year’s event won’t be revisiting the “every game you see is releasing in the next 12 months” promise that was a prominent feature of last year’s event, more than likely due to the fact that it broke that promise with some of its biggest titles. There will also be no trailers for movies, which is something.
