The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the Mortal Kombat film, to be filmed in South Australia, has cast three new actors in presumably prominent roles.
Tadanobu Asano, who appeared as Hogun in Thor: Ragnarok will be playing as Raiden. Mechad Brooks previously has appeared in Supergirl, will be playing Major Jackson Briggs. Finally, Australian newcomer Sisi Stringer will be playing Mileena.
The three join Ludi Lin, who Variety is reporting will be playing Liu Kang.
All four actors join Joe Taslim, who was cast as Sub Zero earlier in the year.
Following protracted development, news has finally begun spilling on the film which has taken since 1997’s release of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation to come together. Writers have already compared the tone of the film to Deadpool.
But don’t fret, one of the writers has also confirmed that the film will be rated R in the US, and will feature fatalities:
Since it's already been stated by other members of the team, I'm gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I'm not gonna say which ones) You'll just have to wait for the movie & see!!! 😉 pic.twitter.com/aVTewH4t28
